Police officer recovering after reported assault in North Philadelphia

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - A Philadelphia police officer is recovering after reportedly being assaulted in North Philadelphia.

Authorities say the officer was investigating a report of a stolen vehicle at Sedgley and Ridge Avenues Saturday, just before 7:30 p.m. when the assault took place.

The officer was transported to Temple University Hospital and listed in stable condition. Authorities say the officer is expected to be treated and released.

Investigators arrested a man in connection with the assault.
