Police release body cam footage of mother who left child in hot car

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -A young mother is facing child abuse charges after her 2-year-old daughter was found locked in a hot car.

Police say 20-year-old Mikayla Peer went shopping at a WalMart in Surprise.

The video comes from police officer body cameras and surveillance cameras.

While she was inside the store someone spotted her child still in the car and called police.

Officers smashed the window and rescued the little girl, thankfully she is ok.

Police estimate the girl was in the car for about eight minutes in 108 degree heat, inside it may have been as high as 117 degrees.
