Police say 23-year-old man stabbed his girlfriend to death in Northeast Philly

OXFORD CIRCLE (WTXF) - Police are investigating a homicide in after they say a 23-year-old man stabbed his 25-year-old girlfriend to death in Northeast Philadelphia.

The incident happened on Thursday, January 18 at around 1:12 p.m.

Police responded to the scene of a stabbing inside the 5900 block of Belden Street.

When officers arrived on the scene, several relatives indicated the victim was deceased in the basement.

The officers located a 25-year-old female, Oscarina Zarzuela with significant wounds to her chest and neck.

The officers immediately took Ricky Torres-Martinez, 23, the victim's boyfriend into custody.

This investigation is ongoing with the Homicide Division.
