Police: Woman killed in apparent murder-suicide in Port Richmond

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Philadelphia Police have now confirmed the two people found dead inside a car in Port Richmond were fatally shot in a murder-suicide.

Officers responded to the 3500 block of Amber Street around 10:17 p.m. Thursday night for a report of two people found dead inside an SUV.

Police arrived on scene to find a blue Honda CRV with a 37-year-old woman behind the wheel, and a 49-year-old man in the passenger seat. Investigators believe the man shot the woman before turning the gun on himself

Both of the victims were found with a single gunshot wound to the right side of their heads, according to police.

A gun was found inside of the car, and police say no bullet holes were found on the inside of the vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing with the homicide unit.
