Rodgers: Who will be the Flyers new head coach?

The Flyers are going into their offseason kind of like they ended the season--not on the right right foot.

The Flyers are trying to figure out what direction to take this team in and they need someone to lead the way. They need a new head coach. The name that kept being brought up was Joel Quenneville, but the Panthers announced him as their new head coach Monday.

So now the question is who do they go with? And I can tell you this, I don't think it's going to be Scott Gordon. Earlier Monday, Flyers Executive Vice President and General Manager Chuck Fletcher said Gordon is a very strong candidate to go from interim to permanent head coach.

But he's had almost a full season to win the job. The Flyers-- it feels like--would have known by now if he was their guy. To Gordon's credit, I do think he did a great job with what he was given. He has the players' respect. He didn't take the team in a wrong direction; however, I really don't think it's the direction that Fletcher wants to see. So as Fletcher said Monday? The process starts now.
