Suspect remains at large after armed robbery outside Christiana Mall: police

A teen suspect is in custody as the search continues for a second suspect after a robbery unfolded outside a mall in Newark, Delaware, this weekend.

What we know:

Two victims were approached by two suspects, one of which was armed, in the JCPenney parking lot at Christiana Mall around 7:40 p.m. 

Police say one suspect robbed one of the victims, then fled, while the teen suspect hit the victim in the head with a handgun, then chased the second victim at gunpoint.

The first victim, a 47-year-old man, declined medical treatment. The second victim was unharmed.

The 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody after running from police. A handgun was also recovered from his waistband. The second suspect has not been located.

What we don't know:

Police are still looking for the second suspect, who is described as being a man approximately 20 to 24 years old, between 5’8" and 5’9" tall and weighing 160 to 170 pounds.

He was initially reported to be armed, but police confirm he is unarmed.
