Teen struck, killed in overnight hit-and-run on Roosevelt Boulevard

Police in the Rhawnhurst neighborhood are asking for the public's help in finding the driver of a vehicle which, police say, struck and killed a teenager.

Authorities say the vehicle is a 2007-2008 Chevy Impala or Malibu. The vehicle would have damage to the driver side headlight and windshield. It would also be missing the driver side mirror.

Police were called to the 7600 block of Roosevelt Boulevard Sunday just before 1 a.m. on the report of a pedestrian struck. They arrived to find a 17-year-old male had been hit by a vehicle while crossing the street. Investigators believe the teen was in the inner lanes of the boulevard when the car hit him. The vehicle then drove off, heading south on Roosevelt Boulevard.

The teen was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information regarding the vehicle or the driver is asked to contact police at 215-685-3180 or contact 911.
