Viewing to be held for Philadelphia firefighter Michael Bernstein
PHILADELPHIA (FOX 29) - Family, friends, and fellow firefighters will gather to remember a Philadelphia firefighter who passed away while on duty last week.
Michael Bernstein, 46, died Wednesday after suffering a medical emergency while on duty at Engine 78 at Philadelphia International Airport.
Bernstein's company was dispatched to an assignment in the early morning hours. After he didn't arrive at the fire apparatus, his fellow members found him unconscious in the hallway. He passed away at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital.
Bernstein was a 23-year veteran of the department. He is survived by his wife, three children and parents.
A viewing will be held Monday evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the John F. Givnish Funeral home at 19075 Academy Road in Philadelphia.
