Vigil held for three students of Bridgeton High killed in separate car crashes
NEW JERSEY (WTXF) Heavy hearts packed the stadium at Bridgeton High School for three students killed over the past week. 17-year-old Makayla Mosley and 15-year old Daisia Sulton were killed coming home from prom early Saturday morning. Their car crashed into a tree on Route 49 in Maurice Township. The week before 18-year-old Luz De La Cruz-Antonio was also killed in a car crash in Salem County when she hit a utility pole.
"It's really emotional it's hard but we're coming for support for her and the family and the other girls," Sandra Hill. She and her daughter Jasmine are neighbors and friends of Makayla.
"She was always smiling and she was never mad. She was goofy and always playful," said Jasmine.
Wednesday night's vigil was full of emotion
Jermiara Dawkins says she's Makayla's cousin. She attended the vigil with family and friends.
"It's just really hurtful. It's like I'm still dreaming. I can't believe it," said Jermiara.
Shahiem Williams said it's been hard at school since it happened. " It's been stressful. People crying and people on the floor. That's a big loss for us," he said.
The vigil ended with candlelight as the crowd said good y to the girls with song.
The cause of the crash that killed Makayla and Daisia is still under investigation but published reports state alcohol and drugs have been ruled out as the cause.
Two other girls who were passengers in the car remain in the hospital.
