Weather Authority: Rainy start to week comes with mild temps before polar plunge this weekend
PHILADELPHIA - A mild and rainy start to the week will lead to a polar plunge that forecasters expect will drop temperatures into the 20s during the weekend.
Showers that began late Sunday night and spilled into Monday morning are expected to taper off before the afternoon, FOX 29's Sue Serio reports.
Temperatures in the 50s on Monday will approach 60 degrees in Philadelphia and surrounding areas on Tuesday, with a chance of passing morning rain.
The balmy conditions will remain on Wednesday with yet another chance of rain during the afternoon.
Temperatures will begin to bottom out over the weekend, with a high of 37 expected in Philadelphia on Saturday – the official start of winter.
Despite bright sunshine over the weekend, the polar plunge will plummet temperatures into the 20s on Sunday.
