Whole Foods pulls pre-peeled oranges after social media backlash
(FOX NEWS INSIDER) - It appears that oranges aren't just a great source of vitamin C but also controversy.
After Twitter user Nathalie Gordon posted a photo of pre-peeled oranges for sale at a California Whole Foods store, many took to social media to ridicule the company.
They pointed out that placing the fruit in bulky, individual plastic containers - and selling them for $5.99 a pound - is hardly efficient or eco-friendly.
Whole Foods tweeted an apology on Thursday, saying the product has been pulled from the shelves and they will sell the fruit in its "natural packaging":
