Woman hospitalized after falling into septic tank in Hammonton
HAMMONTON, N.J. (WTXF) - A South Jersey woman is in the hospital after police say she fell 10 feet into an old septic tank on Thursday.
Officers responded to the 57-year-old woman's home on the 3600 block of Nesco Road and found the woman inside the tank around 2:40 p.m.
Mullica Township Police posted video of the rescue on their Facebook page and say the cover of the tank had rotted through.
The rescue took approximately two and a half hours, and police say the woman may have been in the tank for about 30 minutes before her son heard her screams for help.
The woman was flown to Atlanticare Hospital.
