WWII veteran celebrates 100th birthday at Whataburger
A World War II veteran celebrated his 100th birthday in true Texas style.
"Red" Wallace is a fan of Whataburger in his hometown of Malakoff, located about 80 miles southeast of Dallas.
The fast-food chain provided him with a limousine. His family and friends joined him for a celebration.
Mr. Wallace is retired from the General Motors Arlington Assembly Plant and said if you want to live a long life, do what he does.
"Exercise! I worked hard all my life. I've just, you know, I've worked at the job and go out and cut wood. And I just, I've worked. I don't sit still in the house. I stay outside. And if you want to live a long time, you better get plenty of exercise," he said.
Whataburger workers said he has been a regular at the restaurant for years. They wanted to honor him on his special day.
