Youth sports volunteer charged with corruption of minor in Montgomery Co.

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) -- Authorities have announced the arrest of a youth sports volunteer accused of sexually explicit social media conversations with a 12-year-old boy.

Twenty-one-year-old Kevin Barron of Horsham is charged with corruption of a minor.

Montgomery County prosecutors say the boy's mother contacted Hatboro police Jan. 29 about someone having sexually explicit conversations with her son via Snapchat and Instagram.

Prosecutors allege that Barron reached out to the boy following a Dec. 17 basketball game, their conversations became sexual and he requested and received a sexually explicit photo.

Prosecutors said Barron attends college in North Carolina majoring in elementary education and is an elementary school student teacher. They say he has also been a youth sports volunteer in the Hatboro and Horsham area.

Barron's attorney didn't immediately return a message seeking comment.
