76ers release "Phila Unite" hype video ahead of playoffs
PHILADELPHIA (FOX 29) - The Philadelphia 76ers are playoff bound for the second year in a row.
With their return to the playoffs, the team also brought back the "Phila Unite" mantra and logo. Both are inspired by Benjamin Franklin's 1754 political cartoon in the Pennsylvania Gazette, a Philadelphia-based newspaper, which served as an effort to unite the colonies against the British.
The "Phila Unite" campaign was originally launched last season, ahead of the 76ers first playoff berth since the 2011-12 season.
"We want to continue to tell the story of the severed snake, derived from Benjamin Franklin's political cartoon, and the myth of the power of the snake coming back together but only stronger," Philadelphia 76ers President of Business Operations Chris Heck said.
Thursday afternoon, the team released their "Phila Unite" campaign video highlighting some of the best moments from the regular season ahead of Game 1 on Saturday.
The Sixers will take on the Brooklyn Nets at 2:30 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center.
