Eagles' Fletcher Cox named NFC Defensive Player of the Week

Philadelphia Eagles' Fletcher Cox has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week, the team announced Wednesday.

The announcement comes in the wake of Cox's three-sack performance in the Eagles' 24-0 victory over Washington on Sunday. The defending Super Bowl champions earned the NFC's final wild-card berth shortly after that win when Chicago beat the Vikings.

It's the second time Cox has earned the award and first since his other three-sack outing against quarterback Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints in 2015.

Cox previously won the NFC Defensive Player of the Month award last September.

Cox was named to the NFC's Pro Bowl squad for the fourth time in his seven seasons with the Eagles. eclipsing double-digit sacks for the first time with a career-best 10.5 in 2018 to lead the Eagles.
