Phillies, Nola agree to 4-year contract extension

The Philadelphia Phillies have signed pitcher Aaron Nola to a four-year contract extension, avoiding an arbitration hearing.

The team officially announced the deal, which would keep Nola in red pinstripes through the 2022 season, on Twitter Wednesday morning.

Nola's new deal also includes a club option for the 2023 season.

According to multiple reports, the four-year deal is worth $45 million.

Nola finished third in NL Cy Young award voting last year after going 17-6 with a 2.37 ERA. The 25-year-old earned $573,000 in 2018.
