Rodgers: Don't jump on Phillies after Wednesday's errors, pitching woes

So, the Phillies bid for 162-0 is over. Now, the best they can try for is 161-1.

Yes, that was sarcasm, but the Phillies first loss of 2019 to the Nationals Wednesday afternoon was not how the team wanted, or should have ended that game.

However, we are only five games into the season. That's only 3% of the games if that puts it into perspective. It's early.

If anything, Wednesday's loss shined a light on something we knew was a question mark for this team… pitching.

David Robertson didn't give the best first impression when he walked in the tying run, but he owned up to it after the game.

As for Aaron Nola, he didn't look like himself Wednesday. He gave up six earned runs in three innings. The Nats jumped on him.

It's not what you want from the guy that's supposed to be your ace.

The other worrisome takeaway from Wednesday's game is the three errors from the Phillies. They were perfect on the season going into the game. Again, we know these things will happen. It's a long season.

So, take a breath, and let the Phils learn from their mistakes before you jump on them.
