1 dead, 1 injured following crash in Oxford Circle
OXFORD CIRCLE (WTXF) - Police are investigating a car accident that left one person dead and another injured in Oxford Circle overnight.
Officials say the incident took place when a vehicle veered off the highway and slammed into a tree on the 6000 block of Roosevelt Boulevard near Calvary Christian Church.
Police responded to the scene around 2:15 a.m.
The car's driver was transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital with a broken leg. The passenger did not survive.
The accident shut down a portion of the Boulevard overnight as investigators combed the scene.
An Uber sticker could be seen in the windshield of the car in question, indicating the driver may work for the rideshare company, but investigators say the passenger was not an Uber customer and that the driver was not on the clock at the time of the accident.
The identity of the victim has yet to be released.
