1 dead, 3 arrested after possible night club altercation

A deadly shooting near Penn's Landing is under investigation.

It happened shortly before midnight at the intersection of Callowhill Street and Columbus Boulevard.

First, police got called to a report of a 'fight on the highway' outside Cavanaugh's Night Club at Spring Garden Street and Delaware Avenue.

Then, they heard several gunshots coming from around Callowhill Street.

There, a man on a motorcycle pointed to three other unknown men running away and he said, "They just shot my boy."

Officers stopped those three after a short chase and found the 24-year-old victim lying across the street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and one to his head.

He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

The man on the motorcycle got away without being identified.

The three unknown men were arrested. Police believe they tossed their gun into the Delaware River.

Police say initial reports indicate there may have been an altercation at Cavanaugh's before the shooting, but the motive is officially unknown.
