1 Dead in Frankford SEPTA Accident

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) Police say a vehicle crashed into SEPTA trackless trolley in the city's Frankford section on Monday night.

The accident happened around 7:15 p.m. at Penn and Arrott Streets. According to police, both vehicles were traveling westbound on Arrott Street when the SEPTA trolley slowed and stopped at the stop sign at Penn Street. Police say the car rear-ended the SEPTA trolley.

The car was occupied by a driver and passenger. Both the driver and passenger were taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center. Police say the driver was pronounced dead at the hospital. There were 19 passengers, including the driver on board the SEPTA trolley at the time of the accident. SEPTA says the passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to area hospitals.

No word on the cause of death of the driver of the car.
