Coast Guard crew helps troubled diver off NJ coast

(AP) Less than four hours earlier, the Coast Guard had to help a troubled diver not far away from the scene of the collision.

Officials say a crew member aboard the Dina Dee contacted Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay in Philadelphia at about 10:45am Sunday to report a man had been involved in a diving incident about eight miles east of Barnegat Light.

Watchstanders dispatched a 47-foot motor lifeboat crew from the guard's Barnegat Light station. The crew then brought the man back to the station where they were met by emergency medical personnel.

The man was flown to a hospital in Philadelphia. His name and further details on his condition were not disclosed.
