1 Person Killed in Motel Fire in Delaware

New Castle, Del. (WTXF) Officials say one person has died in a motel room in New Castle, Delaware.

The fire started at the Budget Motor Lodge on South Dupont Highway shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday and was placed under at 5:36 p.m. No word on how the fire started.

Firefighters from multiple companies battled the fire and located a victim in the building. The victim suffered severe burns and was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedic, according to officials. The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office was on scene investigating the incident.
