1 winning Mega Millions ticket worth $425M sold in New York
LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (FOX 13) - Someone in New York is ringing in 2019 as a millionaire.
One person matched all five numbers, plus the Mega Ball, in Tuesday night's $425 million drawing, according to the Mega Millions website. The ticket was sold in Long Island. Seven other players won at least $1 million after matching all but the Mega Ball: one winner in Pennsylvania, three in New York, and one each in Ohio, South Carolina and Texas.
The lucky winner in New York can choose a cash option of $254.6 million. Officials said it is the second time the jackpot has been won on New Year's Day. The last time was in Texas in 2008.
The winning numbers were 34, 44, 57, 62, 70 and Mega Ball 14. The jackpot is back down to $40 million, or $23.9 million in cash. The next drawing is Friday.
The Mega Millions winner for the $1.5 billion jackpot from October still has not come forward to claim the prize. The winning ticket was sold in South Carolina.
