17-year-old girl shot near North Philadelphia school; lockdowns lifted
NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Police are investigating after a teenage student was shot in Philadelphia's Logan neighborhood Monday morning.
The victim, a 17-year-old girl, was reportedly shot in the shoulder on the 1600 block of West Olney Avenue shortly after 8:15 a.m.
The girl ran to nearby Central High School before being transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where she is listed in stable condition.
Police say two individuals were exchanging fire at each other in Kemble Park when the victim was hit. Bullets also reportedly flew into the first floor of occupied homes on the block.
Central High School, Philadelphia High School for Girls and Widener Memorial School were placed on lockdown following the shooting. The lockdowns have since been lifted.
