2 Charged in Kidnapping and Carjacking

New Castle, Del. (WTXF) The New Castle County Police say they have charged two suspects in connection with a carjacking and kidnapping of a 71-year-old woman in New Castle, Delaware.

According to police, the 71-year-old female victim exited the Wawa convenience store located at Philadelphia Pike and Beeson Avenue on Tuesday, November 10th when she was approached by a suspect who displayed a handgun and demanded cash. The victim was then ordered to drive to the Wawa located at DuPont Highway and Memorial Drive, investigators said. Police say the victim reported providing the suspect with an undisclosed amount of cash before he fled the area.

On Tuesday, around 11:15 p.m. officers were on patrol when they say they observed a silver sedan disregard a stop sign at the intersection of Rose Lane and Thorn Lane. According to police, The officers then conducted a traffic stop on Thorn Lane and recognized the driver as the man in the surveillance photographs disseminated to officers. The officers conducted an inquiry on the driver and learned Norris Farlow,54, of New Castle, had an active warrant for his arrest.

He was taken into custody without incident. As officers searched the vehicle, they located drug paraphernalia and a shirt matching the one worn by Farlow in the photographs, according to police.

Norris Farlow has been charged with kidnapping in the second degree, carjacking in the first degree, conspiracy in the second degree, unlawful use of a card, theft under $1,500 where the victim is over 62 years of age, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, unauthorized use of a vehicle, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and numerous traffic violations. Farlow has been arraigned and is being held on $33,000 cash bail.

John Johnson has been charged with kidnapping in the second degree, carjacking in the first degree, conspiracy in the second degree, unlawful use of a card, theft under $1,500 where the victim is over 62 years of age, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. Johnson was arraigned and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of posting $53,000 secured bail and issued a no contact order.
