Two children are in critical condition after being struck by a car in North Philadelphia.

The incident happened Sunday afternoon just before 2 p.m. on the 2500 block of West Somerset Street.

A 5-year-old boy was driving a moped with a 6-year-old girl on the back when a woman driving a 2010 White Dodge Caravan struck them as she approached the end of the block.

The boy and girl were knocked underneath the vehicle upon impact.

The woman driving the car told officials she did not see the children enter the roadway.
