3 people rescued from partial building collapse in Northern Liberties
NORTHERN LIBERTIES (WTXF) - Three people were rescued from a building in Northern Liberties after it partially collapsed early Thursday morning.
Officials say the three-story building on the 700 block of North 2nd Street partially collapsed around 4:30 a.m.
Fire officials say three people were inside the third story apartment when they heard what they thought was thunder. Walls inside the home had shifted, and the residents attempted to exit through the front door, but it had been held closed by a shifted part of the building.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and were able to knock down the door and safely evacuate those inside. A resident in a neighboring building was also evacuated.
Licensing and Inspections closed off the property following the collapse saying it was in imminent danger of collapsing.
