4 wounded when gunman opens fire on basketball court in Chester

Chester Police are investigating a shooting in which four people were transported to the hospital.

According to police, shots were fired from Concord Avenue into the Bennett Homes basketball court on the 1200 block of Carla's Lane. The call came a little before 6 p.m., Saturday, October 21.

According to police, two males and two females were struck by the bullets. Each person received wounds to their lower extremities. According to police, upon their arrival, three of the victims were at the basketball court. A fourth victim was at Crozer-Chester Medical Center and police were called to that location. All four victims were treated at Crozer-Chester Medical Center where they are expected to recover. The victims are identified as 24-year-old Tevin Armstrong, 18-year-old Aliyah Rodriguez, 24-year-old Tyree Wilson and 20-year-old Monire Green.

All of the victims were on the basketball court when they were shot. There were approximately 30 people on the basketball court at the time of the shooting.

The shooter or shooters were firing from just north of the basketball court, on Concord Avenue. There is a grassy area between Concord Avenue and the basketball court. Numerous shell casings were found by the grassy area on Concord Avenue. The shell casings were rifle rounds, as well as handgun rounds.

Police say the shooting investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Chester Police.
