$5,000 reward offered in Haverford killing

There's now a $5,000 reward out if you can help with the arrest and conviction of the man wanted for Saturday's deadly shooting in Haverford Township. The same suspect is wanted for a shooting in Overbrook Park, less than an hour earlier.

Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan, in conjunction with Haverford Police Chief John Viola, announced a $5,000 reward for information on the man who murdered 29-year-old John Le of Narberth.

FOX 29's Brad Sattin confirmed Le was an accountant at Sneaker Villa on Arch Street in Center City. His coworkers got the horrible news Monday.

Police had released surveillance pictures of the suspect, running away from the Havertown crime scene, hoping someone might recognize him. They think he was carrying the gun in his waistband.

He is suspected of arguing with and killing Le at about 6 p.m. while Le was walking from a pizza shop to a friend's apartment in the 2300 block of Haverford Road.

It's still not known whether this was a random or targeted killing.

Sunday, police announced the suspect matches the description of the suspect in another shooting a few miles away, in Overbrook Park -- just 45 minutes before Le was killed.

At that scene, a man accused him of loitering, so he allegedly fired a dozen shots into a car. No one was injured in the Overbrook Park violence.

In both instances, the suspect was described as angry and yelling.

Besides the suspect, investigators are searching for a charcoal gray four-door Volvo he may be driving.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Citizens Crime Commission at 215-546-TIPS (8477).
