Ambush shooting inside Logan barbershop leaves 1 dead, 3 wounded

One man is dead, three others wounded after a shooting inside a barbershop on North Broad Street in Logan

"28 years. Never no problems," said Jay Holland. He showed up at his business Jay's Shear Magic Barbershop to find it roped off with police crime scene tape and crawling with cops. An ambush shooting inside left four people hurt, police say, when a masked gunman walked in and opened fire just after seven Thursday.

"I'm thinking it was something personal," said Holland. It certainly sounds like it the way police describe the scene they found after getting several 911 calls reporting shots fired.

"We found at least 22 spent shell casings inside the barbershop, some projectiles, fragments and many bullet holes in barber chairs and walls," said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

The victims included 28 and 42-year-old men shot in the torso, chest and back. The 28-year-old died at Einstein Hospital and the 42-year-old is in critical condition at Einstein. Two other men a 45 and 46-year old with gunshot wounds to their arm and leg are in stable condition at Temple Hospital.

Investigators say it appears the deceased 28-year-old, who was struck multiple times by gunfire may have been the intended target.

Police say there's no motive yet and they couldn't say whether the victims are employees or customers of the barbershop at North Broad and Wingohocking.

"It's crazy all that leading up to this. I'm thankful that none of the barbers were seriously hurt. They assured me it was just graze wounds to the barbers and they will be fine," said Holland.

Investigators say they do have surveillance video from nearby businesses that they're going through for clues. They say the gunman was wearing dark clothes and a ski mask over his face.
