Area schools announce closures due to power outages
PHILADELPHIA (FOX 29) - Area schools have announced closures Monday following a number of power outages.
In Media, Penncrest High School initially announced a three-hour delay. The school has since announced it will be closed for the deay.
"Due to a power outage at Penncrest, there will be no school for Penncrest students and staff," the school annonuced on its website. "All other buildings will report at normal time."
In Levittown, Pearl S. Buck Elementary School will also be closed Monday for staff and students. All other Neshaminy district schools will open as normal.

Thousands of utility customers remain without power in Pennsylvania as high winds continue to roar through the state, knocking down trees and power lines.
About 144,200 customers were without power in Pennsylvania early Monday. But most of the affected customers were expected to have their service restored by Monday night at the latest.
