Area schools to dismiss early due to heat
(WTXF) - Area schools dismissed students early Tuesday due to excessive heat.
In Bucks County, Truman High School dismissed students at 12:05 p.m. from their first day of school. Middle school students will be sent home at 12:30 p.m., pre-K students will be sent home at 1 p.m., and elementary school students will be sent home at 1:15 p.m.
After school child care is canceled for 'Kid Time' families.
In Montgomery County, Elkins Park School will dismiss students at noon and Cheltenham High School will dismiss students at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday as well.
Bottled water will continue to be available while students and staff are in the buildings, and lunch will be served at both schools.
Eastern Center for Arts and Technology will operate as usual, and CHS afterschool activities will carry on as scheduled. Wednesday's Senior College Planning session (6 p.m.) and Back to School Night (7 p.m.) have been rescheduled to Thursday, Sept. 20.
All Elkins Park afterschool activities have been canceled, and there will be no afternoon CLASP for Elkins Park students.
