Atlantic City police officer recovering after stabbing

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (WTXF) - An Atlantic City police officer is recovering after being stabbed.

Police in Atlantic City were called to the 600 block of North Kentucky Avenue Friday about 6:30 p.m. on the report of a hit and run accident with injuries.

Authorities say during the investigation of the accident, an uninvolved man, 32-year-old Timothy Deal, approached the accident scene and stabbed an Atlantic City Police officer, without provocation.

Investigators say that officer shot Deal.

The officer was taken to AtlantiCare Medical Center and was placed in stable condition.

Deal was pronounced dead at AtlantiCare Medical Center.
