Attempted arson on police car under investigation

Philadelphia police are investigating because they say somebody may have tried to light one of their cruisers on fire inside a station parking lot.

Investigators found burnt paper sticking out of an open gas tank at about 8:30pm Monday, and the gas cap was on the ground.

The car was parked at the 35th District's lot, on N. Broad Street and Champlost Avenue.

Apparently the attempted arsonist lit the paper, but the fire died out before reaching the gas tank.

Nobody was hurt.
