Aubrey's Story: Local girl recovers after fall

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF)One local family is asking for prayers after their little girl suffered a traumatic brain injury after a fall.

FOX 29's Karen Hepp shares Aubrey's story.

4-year-old Aubrey simply tripped and fell walking; smacking her head so hard on a concrete path. She almost died.

"We knew when the accident happened, she suffered a subdural hematoma so severe she was in minutes of losing her life," Aubrey's mother, Megan Fells told FOX 29.

Aubrey was in a coma for nearly a month and had two brain surgeries. Aubrey is now at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Her recovery is long and slow but her family is patient and hopeful.

"I want people to know she is so strong and so brave. The strongest and bravest little girl I ever met," Meghan said.

Aubrey is getting all kinds of therapy, physical, occupational and art. Every day she's a little stronger- a little more Aubrey. She's remembering her favorite characters and songs.

While Megan has been at the hospital for the past 3 months, Billy has been home with their other two girls and trying to work

"Right now, we just need prayers she'll continue to make progress, continue to make those stops towards having Aubrey back."

Megan is so grateful to everyone who has shown their support on Facebook, sporting fight Aubrey bracelets- schools, churches, even the firehouse is getting involved. Her niece created a GoFundMe pageand their almost at their goal. But Megan says it's prayers that make miracles not money.
