Authorities investigate attempted armed credit union robbery

Authorities are asking for the public's help to identify and locate a suspect in connection with an attempted armed robbery of the Police & Fire Federal Credit Union branch located at 8500 Henry Avenue.

According to authorities, shortly before 5 p.m. Friday, the man entered the credit union--brandishing a gun, he approached tellers and demanded money. Shortly thereafter, he fled the credit union empty-handed, traveling on foot in an unknown direction, investigators say.

The suspect is described as a man, approximately 6' tall, thin build. He was wearing a black winter jacket with the hood up, black hat, mask, and gloves, blue jeans, tan boots, and a brown leather satchel bag over his shoulder.

The man is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about this attempted armed robbery or this subject is urged to call the FBI/PPD Violent Crimes Task Force at 215-418-4000. There is a reward for information leading to this subject's capture; tipsters can remain anonymous.
