Auto body shop fire affecting Route 73 NB into Phila. now 2 alarms

Firefighters are hard at work at an auto body shop, two and a half hours after a major fire started. FOX 29's Steve Keeley reports it's a chemical fire at Michael's Auto Body on Route 73 northbound towards Betsy Ross and Tacony-Palmyra bridges. He said the call came at 6:02am and it reached a second alarm, but now white smoke signals it may be almost out.

This is in Cinaminson but near Maple Shade.

There have been no injuries nor transports.

The fire is considered suspicious for now, since no work was being done so early in the morning.

There are actually three businesses at the scene. The others are a limousine company and auto detailing shop.

Route 73 northbound has not been shut down. The left lane is open, but there's heavy traffic and you may want to use Lenola Road, Forklanding Road, or Routh 130 instead.

Steve reports he's surprised there have been no fender-benders because many drivers have been stopping to take pictures, while others are driving much faster, in a rush.

A customer who has been to the shop said he has seen paint, chemicals, and cars there.

He said the fire is in the showroom section, where they disassemble vehicles, and not near the paint room.
