Beachside tiny home rentals on Siesta Key are what dreams are made of
SIESTA BEACH (FOX 13) - A new beachside community of tiny homes is merging modern engineering with retro style to give travelers the vacations of their dreams.
For some, the beach is the main attraction, but for others who want to give tiny home living a try - it's just an added bonus.
"People are really interested in what these things are all about. You hear about them on TV, you hear about them online; everybody talks about them," said Tiny House Siesta's Dylan Cox. "You've got to use all of your space wisely, special storage."
At the end of Tiny House Street in Sarasota, you'll find 12 rentable tiny homes - each with their own personality and style. Some are inspired by Siesta Key's iconic lifeguard stands.
The smallest of the tiny homes is a whopping 154 square feet, with the largest measuring 256 square feet. It's plenty of room for two to six people, depending on the model.
There are first-floor beds, but loft sleeping is more common in space-saving design.
Outside the tiny homes there is plenty of space for grilling and hosting guests and the beach isn't too far away.
"We are 0.8 miles from the nearest beach access, but in tiny house terms, that's basically on the beach," Cox said.
At about $110 a night, it's comparable to a resort stay, but this is one that'll give you an unforgettable memory.
So before you pack up all your belongings and decide to go tiny, Dylan says to give it a try at Tiny House Siesta.
"It gives you the option to see what the minimalist life is like if you are interested," said Cox.
