Bodies of 12-year-old Virginia girl, grandmother whose disappearances triggered Amber Alert found
HARRISONBURG, Va. - The bodies of a 12-year-old girl and her grandmother, whose disappearances triggered an Amber Alert in early August, have been located, according to authorities.
The Rockingham County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office announced on Thursday that the bodies of 12-year-old Angie Rodriguez Rubio and 48-year-old Elizabeth Rodriguez Rubio were found at the Shenandoah National Park in Shenandoah County.
Authorities said the victims were abducted and killed by Hareto Jaime Rodriguez Sariol, who entered a plea agreement on two counts of first-degree murder. Officials said Sariol led investigators to the bodies.
According to the initial Amber Alert, the child and grandmother were last seen with Sariol in Harrisonburg the afternoon of Aug. 5. Sariol had a history of infatuation with the grandmother, according to the original Amber Alert.
Sariol was taken into custody after being apprehended the evening of Aug. 7 near Scranton in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. The Amber Alert was canceled on Aug. 11 because the alert must be canceled after a certain period of time.
Sariol faces 20 years to life in prison for each count of first-degree murder, according to officials.
