Bryce Harper goes deep for first time with Phillies
CLEARWATER (FOX 29) - With one week left until Opening Day, Bryce Harper is getting his home run swing back.
Philadelphia's newest superstar hit his first home run in a Phillies uniform during the first inning of Thursday's spring training game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Harper sent a first pitch hanging breaking ball over the right field fence off Toronto right hander Sam Gaviglio.
Then in the 6th inning, Harper drove a 2-1 offering from Blue Jays lefty Thomas Pannone towering over the seats in right field for his second home run of the day.
Prior to Thursday's game, Harper had gone 1-for-10 with five walks so far this spring.
In seven major league seasons, Harper is averaging over 30 home runs a year. His highest homer total came during his MVP season in 2015 when he hit 42. Last season smashed 34 home runs.
