Busch Gardens says next roller coaster will be world's steepest, fastest hybrid
TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - Even though the highly-anticipated Tigris coaster is still under construction, Busch Gardens announced it is working on another new ride that will open in 2020.
Busch Gardens said the new coaster will be the world's "steepest and fastest" wooden-steel hybrid coaster, and said it would be the tallest coaster of its kind in North America.
The park said the ride will feature restored elements of the former wooden coaster Gwazi.
"We're moving quickly to open our ninth roller coaster, Tigris, with a tenth coaster already underway for next year," said Stewart Clark, President of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Adventure Island. "This cadence of back-to-back new attractions is unprecedented for our park, and continues our legacy as Florida's thrill ride leader."
Meanwhile, Tigris -- which is expected to open this spring -- will be Florida's tallest launch coaster.
