Camden County Academy Teaches Golf to Adults With Special Needs

A golf academy in South Jersey is providing a weekly golf lesson for adults with special needs. Bill Rohrer of Fox 29 News reports.

The Camden County Golf Academy, along with volunteers from the New Jersey chapter of the PGA, teaches the class once a week.

"We just try to give them the basics- feet part, ball position, proper grip, just to give them the kind of the best opportunity to hit the ball," Frank Hesson, a golf pro, said. "The look on their faces to just come out and do it and the connections we make and relationships I make with them like my own children- and when you get to teach them golf that is an even better opportunity."

"They just love being here. When they connect with that ball and they hit it out into that water it is one of the best feelings they can have," Karen Weidner, director of programming for individuals with special needs, said.
