Children found safe after car theft, chase in Northeast Philadelphia

A 1-year-old and 6-year-old were dropped off and are "in good shape" after the car they were in was stolen when their mother left it running at a residence in Northeast Philadelphia, according to a police.

Police were pursuing the vehicle as it weaved in and out of traffic on the Roosevelt Boulevard. SKYFOX was over the scene after police swarmed a driver in the city's Crescentville neighborhood after a chase.

Footage shows officers swarming the video thinking that the children were in the car, but police say the man dropped them off on the 4700 block of Darrah Street, several minutes away from where the chase began. Police were called to the scene and quickly moved in to pick up the children, who were unharmed.

Investigators say the child's mother left the car running outside of their home, with the two children still inside, when the suspect jumped into the car and drove off.

Authorities say the suspect will be charged with kidnapping in addition to being charged for stealing the car.
