Christmas Village at City Hall open for business

CITY HALL (WTXF) - Christmas time is here and the only thing missing is snowflakes, because everything else here feels like Christmas.

"It's wonderful for it to be in the middle of City Hall. It's beautiful it's great. They also relocated the LOVE statue also."

Philly's Christmas Village has a new home this year, and its located all around City Hall, at Dilworth Plaza with vendors selling holiday items and food and drink.

Kim Ruff from Newtown Square said, "It's amazing it's our first time here so we live in Newtown Square it's our first time we're loving it we had hot chocolate we're having a great time."

Devonte Fields said, "It's just people selling clothes different types of jewelry that they made -- a glass maker, I love it."

The village, modeled after traditional German Christmas markets in Bavaria, where farmers and artisans would sell their goods during the holidays and people would come together to shop and enjoy the season.

It's also a nice opportunity for entrepreneurs to sell their goods and get some recognition.

"What we are is t-shirts. Right now, you can write erase, rewrite on our shirts with chalk. All can go in the washer and dryer, it's fun for people, it's really fun for people," Shelly Henshaw, owner Chalk Me Up, said.

"I think it's awesome what part is awesome all of it all of it is awesome," shopper Maya said.
