City "Leaning Towards" Declaring Snow Emergency

Mayor Jim Kenney, preparing for the first major weather event of his term in office, asked Philadelphians to "be safe and look out for each other."

Kenney also told citizens to "think about our city workers," who will be outside dealing with the storm for a long time.

Meanwhile, the city of Philadelphia is "leaning towards" declaring a snow emergency Friday for the upcoming snowstorm, Sam Phillips of the city's emergency management department said at the briefing Thursday afternoon.

Phillips added that a city snow emergency is very different from a state-declared state of emergency, which was announced by Gov. Wolf earlier today.
