City renames street in honor of girl who died from cancer

The life and legacy of a young girl lives on in Philadelphia. Today, Philomena Stendardo would have turned 9 years old. She died in July after a battle with cancer.

FOX 29 followed her story when she met the pope in 2016, which was her Make-A-Wish.

On her birthday, Philadelphia city officials honored her life by renaming a street in Port Richmond. Almond Street is now 'Storm the Heavens Way,' which is a non-profit that raises money and awareness for DIPG that's the cancer Philomena battled so bravely.

Philomena's family founded Storm the Heavens in her memory.
