Clinton officially declared Iowa winner

Iowa's Democratic Party has made Monday's Iowa caucus result official: Hillary Clinton is the winner, and it was very, very close.

According to a statement released by Iowa Democratic Party Chairman Dr. Andy McGuire, the former secretary of state has been awarded 700.59 state delegate equivalents, while Sen. Bernie Sanders has been awarded 696.82 state delegate equivalents. Gov. Martin O'Malley, who announced Monday that he's dropping out of the race, has been awarded 7.61 state delegate equivalents.

"I want to congratulate all of our candidates for running terrific campaigns and thank them for taking the time to travel across our great state to share their visions for the country," the chairman added.

The presidential contest continues next Tuesday with the New Hampshire primary.
