Coast Guard: Boater Jumped Into Delaware River, Never Resurfaced

Coast Guard officials say they have recovered the body of a 43-year-old man who went missing after jumping in the Delaware River near Fort Mifflin.

Officials say they received a call around 1:30 p.m. Sunday that a man in his forties had jumped into the river and never resurfaced.

The man was one of two people on the river on an 18-foot boat. He reportedly fell off the back of the boat, near an island at the mouth of the Delaware and Schuylkill rivers.

The man allegedly told another individual that he was going to swim in the river before jumping off the boat.

A passing jet ski attempted to throw the man a life vest, but was unsuccessful.

The Coast Guard believes the other person on the boat has been accounted for.

Divers are currently working on the recovery.
