Cops: Mother Arrested After Shooting Heroin in Car With 5-Year-Old Daughter in Backseat

(INSIDE EDITION) A New York mother was arrested after plainclothes officers witnessed her shooting heroin in a car while her 5-year-old daughter sat in the backseat, police said.

Heather Dajani pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of drug possession and child endangerment, Nassau court spokesman Daniel Bagnuola told InsideEdition.com.

Bond was set at $2,000.

A passerby called 911 Tuesday night, reporting there was a woman using a hypodermic needle in the parking lot of a Walgreens on Long Island, police said.

Undercover officers sent to the scene also saw Dajani shooting up inside her car while a young girl sat in the back, authorities said.

The 25-year-old woman was arrested and her daughter was released to the custody of the girl's grandmother, who came to the parking lot to get her.

Officers found a straw containing heroin, a glass pipe with crack cocaine and a metal pipe filled with marijuana inside Dajani's car, police said.

According to court documents, the woman told officers, "I'm sorry. I just had a relapse. I was in rehab," News12 reported.

Her next court date is scheduled for Friday.
